Morning comes to Khao Yai rainforest An accomplished mimic: the racket-tailed drongo Overlooking the forest An often heard chatterer: the grey-eyed bulbul Reflections in a rainforest pool He of the beautiful song: a male white-rumped shama New growth on the forest floor Green jewels in an evergreen world: a green-eared barbet Calm waters flowing through the forest Searching diligently for forest fruits: an oriental pied hornbill A broad pool of still water reflects the rainforest behind Emergents Moustached barbet (notice the line of feathers from his bill and running under the eye?) Haunt of dragonflies; a streambed with pools and rock outcrops A rarely encountered blue and white flycatcher An epiphyte encrusted tree overhangs a stream Natures exclamation mark; a black-crested bulbul This recording was made near this stream,
however the barely moving waters are almost completely silent Spotted turtle doves are a ubiquitously urban and cosmopolitan bird,
but also at home in wilder habitat Eddy trails in slow moving waters A little further on... a secluded rainforest waterfall Up into the canopy Oriental white-eye, another fruit eater Buttress root system of giant fig tree A wall of green Can I get it all in? Blue-winged leafbird has a go (and succeeds!) The rocky bed of a stream creates one of the few open spaces in the rainforest Asian fairy bluebird The actual recording location in the heart of Khao Yai rainforest
